Paid Ads in ChatGPT appear at the end of generated responses. They are currently only shown to Free and Go plan users in select countries who are over the age of 18.
Similarly to Google Ads, ChatGPT ads display ads based on how relevant they are to the context, intent and history of the prompt. Through ChatGPT’s new self-service ad manager platform, advertisers provide “context hints” that describe the topics or keywords where their ad will be most relevant. These context hints then guide ad matching and placement.
Each ChatGPT Ad includes the following assets:
- Advertiser Name: your business name
- Favicon: your business logo
- Title: headline copy that should aim for roughly 15 characters
- Ad Copy: description copy that should aim for roughly 30 characters
- Landing page URL: a link to your website
- Image: a relevant image that differs from your logo
ChatGPT Ads currently supports two pricing models:
- Cost per Thousand Impressions (CPM)
- Cost per Click (CPC)
For CPC campaigns, advertisers are recommended to set custom max bids starting at $3-5 USD per click. For CPM campaigns, the default max bid is $60 CPM.
