Apple Maps Launches Web Version
Apple Maps has been the default map app for all iPhones since it was introduced in 2012. After over a decade, Apple Maps is finally available on the web. Although it launched only as a beta version on July 24, the web version still includes many key features of the app such as driving and walking directions, reviews, ordering food, exploring cities and more. According to Apple, the beta version will quickly expand to the full list of features to match the app capabilities in the coming months.
The web-based version of Apple Maps is only available in English for now and is compatible with Safari and Chrome on Mac and iPad, along with Chrome and Edge on Windows PCs. Apple plans on rolling out support for other languages, browsers, and platforms in the future. Apple notes that all developers using its MapKit JS tool can link out to Maps on the web.
